Mexico and the Caribbean topped list of 2020 vacation destinations


Business intelligence software company Adara recently compiled data to produce information on travel trends for this year’s Thanksgiving and Year-End (EOY) holidays, such as Christmas and New Years.

Its survey has shown that Mexico and Caribbean destinations are turning out to be the big winners this festive season, leading to demand for hotels and airlines as many travelers choose to forgo their traditional vacation get-togethers in favor of escapes in hot weather.

Mexico became the top international flight destination for the November and December 2020 holidays, albeit with lower consumption volumes than last year (down 23% during Thanksgiving and 28% during the holidays. The top ten airline bookings list for EOY vacations is also dominated by Mexico, followed by the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Cuba, Colombia, Jamaica, Haiti, Costa Rica and Brazil; while, during the same period last year, some of the top destinations for Americans included the UK, Japan, India, Spain and Germany.
