British Airways will operate direct flights between 26 US cities and London this summer, the carrier has announced. Service began June 3 between London Heathrow and Portland, Oregon and Pittsburgh, and service to San Jose, California is scheduled to resume June 13.
The carrier also launched a new daily daytime flight from Newark to London Heathrow on June 6 to support the return of business travel, according to British Airways. It leaves at 7:55 and arrives in London in the evening. This is the carrier’s third daily flight between cities.
The Portland route is new and will operate five times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) with a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. It is the only direct route to London from the city, according to British Airways. The carrier will offer codeshare connections from Portland through its Oneworld partner Alaska Airlines.
British Airways is also restoring Airbus 380 aircraft service to more North American cities, including Chicago and Vancouver, which began last week, and Dallas-Fort Worth, from July 1. The aircraft offers First, Club World, World Traveler Plus and World Traveler cabins. and has a total of 469 seats, according to the airline.
